As with most other characters from the Transformers universe, there have been too many storylines and variants, different characteristics and different endings to the characters etc but we will just focus on one main one, which is the 2007 Michael Bay directed live-action movie.
Transformer Blackout was also known initally Vortex in leaked early scripts of the 2007 live-action movie. Due to Hasbro's lack of trademark on that name, it was later changed to Blackout. Soundwave and Incinerator weing were also the other options before being finalised as Blackout. As a transformer toy, all names -Vortex, Soundwave, Incinerator and Blackout have been used as toy at one point or another.
Blackout is by far the largest of the Decepticons, and used to transport other fellow Decepticons. He transforms from robot mode to a MH-53M Pave Low IV helicopter. Armed with arm-mounted Gatling canons and an M134 gatling gun when in helicopter mode. He is also equipped energy canons and missle launchers as well as the electronic-disrupting device blast known as EMP.

In robot mode, he detaches the tail rotor blades which are used in close combat while the main rotors fold in such a way that it gives the impression of him possessing wings. In helicopter mode, Blackout is able to stimulate a holographic human pilot, known as “the Moustache Man” and the very same model that “drives” Barricade and “pilots” Starscream. Blackout also carries Scorponok on his back. The pair were the first Decepticons and Transformer in the movie and together, attacked the SOCCENT Forward Operations Centre in Qatar.
He is said to be very loyal to the Decepticons leader, Megatron and obeys his every command. This was evident with his “All Hail Megatron” line. Blackout was eventually killed by Captain Lennox and his team.
